I am a quality systems coordinator at a steel plant in Canada. I have been reading this web site for a while now and find it extremely useful. I am now registered and I have a question.
How closely does your Flow Chart,FMEA and Control Plan have to link?
For example -if a process station in your flow chart is identified as 5 ,do your FMEA and Control Plan have to identify the process station as 5 also. Thanks for the help and I am looking forward to participarting in the threads and chats.:applause:

Welcome to the Cove :bigwave:

You can get a better picture of how the documents should link by understandin why they should. The base document is the process flow diagram, which should be a simple depiction or list of the individual steps in the process. From that, the PFMEA document is the result of considering the possible failure modes in each step (in order) and the control plan shows the process and product controls for each step, with input from the PFMEA. This is something of an oversimplification, but the point is that the steps are linked on the documents because the same steps are followed in the process that creates them.

relationship of process flow,FMEA,control plan

Hi micheal
The process flow,FMEA & the control plan are sequence or the procedure to be fallowed to define a process.
Process flow defines the process steps to get the final product,
The FMEA defines the possible failures and their effects of the process
The control plan defines the parameters and the procedures to fallow to get the process done without any mistakes.
Thats why all the three things are interrelated to each other.

:bigwave: to the forum.

I say your FMEA & Control Plan have a very close link with the process part of it. & the Flow Chart also has a link with the FMEA & Control Plan but only when the product part of it comes into picture.

The flow chart, FMEA, and Control PLan all show the same process operations numbers, and are an intregal link in the PPAP/PSW submissions.
