Links between Process Flow, Process FMEA and Control Plan

That brings up an interesting question (at least on my part). How detailed should you be on your Process Flow Chart, and subsequently FMEA and Control Plan?

I am just beginning to prepare our company to be ISO Certified, and our new customer (who is pushing us towards ISO) is requiring Flow Charts, PFMEA and Control Plans for the different families of products we will be producing for them. We have some of this general information already, but I don't know how detailed I should get. Or is that a question for the customer that is requesting it.

The way we do it is to go from generic to specific. So our PFD basically applies to all parts we make -- i.e.; receiving, production, shipping. Then with the FEMA we break out all production operations an examine specific failure modes. Then the control plan is essentially part specific and addresses any unique requirements.

I wasn't sure if I should just be listing each activity (Order receipt, for example) involved or if I should be detailing each task or touchpoint in the order receipt activity.
