Local QS9000 Training?

Z

Zigs

Being new to the industry (fastener mfg) and new to my current employer, I've been directed to look for some kind of course/seminar to take to learn some of the basics of QS9000. Old Ops Mgr quit and took whatever knowledge she had with her, what nerve!

Has anyone heard of such training? Or ideas where could I look for it? Any help for the Chicago area would be greatly appreciated!

(Though after reading some of the postings to this site.... I'm not entirely sure I want to attend!)

Fully vaccinated are you?

Stat-a-matrix and others offer basic courses on QS-9000 I believe. I really don't keep track of who does and have no idea about schedules.

Maybe someone else has taken a course they can recommend. Any takers on this?

I took a good class in the Chicago area that was sponsered by ASQ. It was taught by Rand Winters Group from Grand Rapids MI. They can be reached at 1-800-847-8133.

You might also try ASQ or AIAG for training schedules in your area.

There are a number of organizations that offer QS-9000 courses both locally and as traveling 'road shows'. I receive a publication that usually lists the next few months of who is offering what and where. As a for instance, AIAG usually has a QS-9000 course at least once a month in Southfield, MI. The next offering is October 2 & 3, 2000. Lloyd's is offering a course September 19 & 20 in Detroit. QMI has one in Mississauga, Canada on September 12 & 13 and then in Cleveland on October 23 & 24, 2000.

Tell me where are you located and I will give you some suggestions? Respond through the forum or E-mail me at [email protected]

Several of the bigger registrars out there (QMI, Perry Johnson) offer training in all types of QS "stuff".

There is a Quality Expo held every year in the Chicago area that offers a variety of classes and information on companies that offer training.

The closest to New York appears to be a two-day QS-9000 Essentials course on October 23 & 24 in Philadelphia put on by Quality Management Institute (800) 465-3717. I do not have any experience with them so I can not offer an opinion on the course content.

I took the QMI course in Mississauga, it was very informative, they discuss the standard & alot of group discussion & projects.

You get a copy of the standard (all manuals) at the start & walk through the standard (trainer we had was very good, brought a lot of real stories to the group from his experience).

I had some knowledge already of the standard B4 the course, but it was still good, answered some questions I had. Same as everyone else in the course.
I also picked up a copy of the TS 16949 standard while I was there.

Good luck

if it moves train it...if it doesn't move calibrate it...if it isn't written down...it never happened.
