Long Shot: GAP between ISO 9001 and MIL-Q-9858

Hello! I work for a small company that has been working via MIL-Q-9858 for the better part of 60 years. New vendors, however, do not accept this "certificate" as this mil spec has been unsupported for quite some time. In an effort to help my company understand where they are lacking to ISO 9001, I am trying to prepare a gap analysis. I was wondering if anyone had any sort of advice or resources to perform this internally to show where the similarities for the military spec start and end to show that it's not as simple as they seem to think. (They are considering ISO, but do not see any intrinsic value in it because then they would have to be more accountable for the massive amounts of waste here)

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Can't help you with specifics, but you can get a copy of the standard from the Estonian Standards Center for < $15. You should then be able to do the gap analysis specifically to your company operations.

I have both standards, thankfully! (And not the Estonian version haha) MIL-Q-9858 has been unsupported for eons. I believe it was aligned with ISO 9001:1999 and then left to rot. And even that I can't find a gap on. I'm working on it now :) I was just slightly hopeful someone did all the heavy lifting first lol oh well!
