Lost time due to on the job accident?

An employee was placed on restrictive light duty for a week. Employee chose to stay home instead of working until follow up Dr appt. Is this considered "lost time" on the board posted in the plant?

This depends on 2 things
1) what laws/ACOPS/guidance say in the country it happened, and
2) what your processes say, both H&S reporting and HR Absence

If they were capable of carrying out light duties, why did they stay at home? Have they decided to be/reported themselves off sick?

Yep, you're in the US and it goes on the OSHA 300 log and as a Recordable as well.

1. Depends on the country and state as to what laws are in effect.
2. For the UK, there would have had to have been a return to interview work first to determine if the employee was fit to return to work and if so, whether or not they were capable of resuming all their duties full-time or if a phased return to work was required - and how they were to be monitored on return to ensure that they were not being placed at risk due to incomplete recovery from injury.

Why was the employee in question placed on light duty? How was this assessed - by a medically qualified person, by discussion and agreement (between who?) etc?

Doctor originally put the employee on light duty after one day off. Employee was at work the morning after but decided to go home at lunch. Has not been back since. Called in 2 days in a row until follow up appointment yesterday.

I think you have bigger problems than whether or not the incident is documented as “lost time on the board posted in the plant”.

OK, like I said, you're in the US and it goes on the OSHA 300 log and as a Recordable as well.

I don't know what kind of "board" you're referring to, but OSHA doesn't give a flip about that internal posting other than the annual one of your previous year's OSHA 300. I've been a Safety & Health professional for nearly 40 years, I've a BS in Safety, and I've done and audited it from Alaska to Dubai across multiple national legal systems.

You also need to show an investigation into the injury, you can use the OSHA 301. Best yet, here are the required BY LAW, OSHA forms.

Or you can listen to the guy in the UK.

He was at work the morning after the day off or the morning after the incident? If the latter, he should have been sent home immediately.
Why did he decide to go home at lunch? Was it because he was in pain or tired or.......?
When did the doctor want to see him again to check on his recovery?

Doesn't matter at this point and not relevant to the original question "Is this considered "lost time" on the board posted in the plant?"

Chris this is a US specific subject from the OP and requires US specific answers.
