I’m in trouble to define a Machine set-up sheets, user friendly for more than one kind of equipment. I have some Ideas, but, like ever I would like do the best, so I think that ask suggestion here is a good way to have the best.
I don’t know if there are Manuals, like those AIAG for APQP for control plans, that suggest the contents and the form for Machine set-up sheet.
Wherevere I went I have seen differents kinds of Machine set-up sheet.
Someone without the Unit of measurements of the value to set-up, someone whit only the nominal value and other whit minimum and maximum, others whit references to instructions, others writings so synthetic to looks like to the divine comedy.
Could someone could give a suggestions?
Many Thanks in advance.

Re: Machine set-up sheets

Hi Cavanna,

What kind of machines are we talking about, and what are they making please? A little more information might help me guess what a template could look like.

Other things matter too, such as the set up person's skill level and the nature of your spec requirements.

Hello, Coils of steel and hot rolled tube.
We have all the information for set-up and control all the equipment of the lines on Corporate and line network.
Anyway during some audit we saw that in many lines there are the needs to write and attaching on the wall the Machine Set-Up Sheets, but those at the moment are out of controls

Okay Cavanna, I did some looking around and didn't find anything.

So, if it was me I would do a tally sheet of the items that are on existing machine setup sheets. A spreadsheet would work well for this job.

I would then select among those most-used and minimum items (not specifics like settings, but the functions, as in types of settings) what set up steps are usually done.

Next I would sort these steps in their likely sequence.

If you want to include the actual settings, make space for them in the proper steps by inserting lines where they belong.

Let production people review a rough draft. After all, they would be the ones using it and they would know what's required and what is "fluff". Make changes as appropriate based on the production people's input.

If you are using a spreadsheet, the cell holding the description of a step can simply be written over by entering information in that step's cell. More lines can be inserted as the need arises.

When done, the spreadsheet can be formatted to print in one sheet or several, of any type you choose--including a small laminated flip chart of step-by-step instructions.

I hope this helps!

Cavanna,

I don't know if this helps, but I have an example of what we use on our machines (lathes and mills)... Here's to hoping it gives you an idea to come up with one that works for you!

Hi Cavanna,

Your set up template appears to have all the requirements met, but I have a couple of questions about approvals.

Are the Verified and Approved blocks for the entire set up of the tool, or for the set up plan before it goes to the production phase?

Are you an automotive supplier?

Thank, you
Are the Verified and Approved blocks for the entire set up of the tool, or for the set up plan before it goes to the production phase?
Before it goes to the production phase we have all set up data approved via LIV.III of EDP system. We have also control plan for every production line via Intranet and attached at the wall of every Phase of production, issued reviewed and approved after FMEA. The production plan referred to machine set up cards.

Are you an automotive supplier?
We have a lot of sub supplier of automotive in Europe. we aren't again ISO/TS 16949

Re: Machine Set-Up Sheets UNIVERSAL STANDARDIZATION

Jennifer Kirley said : Your set up template appears to have all the requirements met, but I have a couple of questions about approvals .....

I'm waiting for suggestion from Jennifer or others cove member thinking that some suggestions on this arguments could be useful to other here. for what concern may experience I remember that many little company use write down technical sheet without a guidline so that the output is determined from the inventive of the people that issued the document.

Could we create here in the Cove the ultimate universal "Forms for Machine Set-Up sheets "? :magic:
