Management Review Inputs (Process Performance)

How do/would you address the ISO 9001 requirement which states that one of the management review inputs shall include information on process performance and product conformity (particularly the process performance element)?

* Review general performance of the organisation against objectives/KPIs within the area under review (whether that be an in-depth review or cross-referencing to other info sources)?

* Tailor that to more specific 'quality' related metrics (as I've seen suggested elsewhere, though I don't particularly favour this approach)?

* Something else?

Your views would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Mick

We check KPI's of the core processes and related trend, comparing them with the performance goals.
As product, it is related to meeting customer requirements ( for example, co/cpk , special requirements and so on ):bigwave:

Perhaps the various other review inputs are a part of the several required process performance.
Unless otherwise taken as process performance of all the applicable Product realization processes in order to meet product conformity to requirement.

The process performance input requirement refers back to cl 4.1. You are required to define each process, define the criteria for effectiveness, and determine how you will measure and monitor those processes. Then, it stands to reason that you should review those metrics defined, to evaluate how the processes are performing to the plan. It is part of the PDCA cycle.

:truce:I too am in the process of implementing a TS16949 system. I too am stuck on the management review thing. I understand what some are saying about being cautious about making too much out of it but I just had a pre-audit and was written up for not covering the TS specific requirements in our management review. Obviously my auditor is going to be a stickler. (I have other adjectives I would rather use). Does anyone out there have a template for a management review that would satisfy the standard as well as an over cautious auditor.
My level one audit is in three weeks and I am running out of time! :bonk:

There is no rule that says everything has to be reviewed all the time. More than likely management is reviewing process performance but it is not being documented. Make it a practice of documenting what reviews are being done and then there will be evidence of it for the auditor.

I don't believe that your auditor is a "stickler." Certification Bodies are under scrutiny by the International Automotive Task Force (IATF). Have you by any chance read "The Rules?"

The requirements set forth by the IATF (ISO/TS 16949:2009) must be followed and verified by your auditor.

When you look at Clause 5.6, it clearly spells out Top Management's obligations.
If you comply with those and you are able to provide the required evidence, you have nothing to fear during the certification audit.

Please clarify what the auditor stated about - "written up for not covering the TS specific requirements in our management review..." Did he clarify that? If not, I would ask him for clarification. That is not a requirement in cl 5.6. - 5.6.3.

It is enough to follow the clauses 5.6.2 and 5.6.3 of ISO 9001.
For ISO TS you shall also include 5.6.1.1 (monitoring of quality objectives and cost of poor quality), 5.6.2.1 related to field failure and impact on safety, quality and environment, 7.3.4.1 , some updates on review of design and development (product and process):bigwave:
