Re: Management Review Meetings - Auditor issued an Area of Concern regarding our meth

Quite incorrect....My company has no marketing, product development or product realization person or QA so now what do I do?

You need to get away from titles because they really don't mean diddly beyond the individual organization.
My reply was in the context of TS 16949-2009.You are referring to ISO 9001-2008.
Then you are correct.

This thread is the ISO 9001 thread.

The OP's question was about ISO 9001.

This whole thread is occurring in the ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems Standard forum. It's a sound assumption that it's based on that Standard, no?

Re: Management Review Meetings - Auditor issued an Area of Concern regarding our meth

Minimum quorum FOR an MRM is (by a common sense approach and not specified):-
I. A person from top management with full executive powers
II. The MR.
III.representative of Marketing
IV.Representative of product development and product realization
V.Representative of Quality Assurance
V. In the event of resignation of MR, a replacement should be made without delay.

In the Absense of top management the MRM should be cancelled.
Other absences are of less significant and may be permitted by TM.

As others have said, you're being far too prescriptive and adopting a very 'blinkered' approach here. Plus you're making subjective statements, and making up your own rules, rather than using the Standard itself. Apart from being unacceptable, you're giving advice that is utterly wrong and likely to severely mislead people if they were to listen to it.

I kinda figured that, but "duh" maybe I was wrong?

It's pretty bad when folks get all wrapped around the alxe over meaningless titles. It seems like all the "experts" have never heard of a 1 person company where there ain't all those job titles.

Pl.donot make personal comments and spoil the spirit of debate.Take issues point by point and discuss.Let people infer by looking at the arguments. You must know that even two lead auditors donot agree on every thing..Interpretations vary from auditor to auditor.

That's the problem too much interpretation and not enough application

There hasn't been criticism but ya gotta get out of the box and understand that titles like CEO, president, manageing director, and all those others matter not one bit in the case of management review or really anything concerning ISO 9001 and probably most everyISO based management standard. What matters are individual roles and responsibilities defined by each organization so instead of CEO they may use the term "Poo-Pah" or "Kleagel", or nothing other than "Boss" or "Leader", it doesn't matter and nobody really cares. I have audited organizations where top management consists of higher rank structure of a military organization, so therefore your comments about "who" must do the management review would be meaningless to them as well.

Also, not all organizations are manufacturing, nor are they staffed by 10's of hundred's of people, I have experience with an organization using ISO 9001 that had less than 10 people, so there again your comments would be inapplicable because top management consisted of "Owners -Husband & Wife".

Don't lock yourself in to one line of thought and please remove the burr from the saddle blanket.

Re: Management Review Meetings - Auditor issued an Area of Concern regarding our meth

Maybe something is lost here...follow the link

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thinking_outside_the_box

Also something I copied..........Might be a new concept for many

Inside The Box
Thinking inside the box means accepting the status quo. For example, Charles H. Duell, Director of the US Patent Office, said, "Everything that can be invented has been invented." That was in 1899: clearly he was in the box!

In-the-box thinkers find it difficult to recognize the quality of an idea. An idea is an idea. A solution is a solution. In fact, they can be quite pigheaded when it comes to valuing an idea. They rarely invest time to turn a mediocre solution into a great solution.

More importantly, in-the-box thinkers are skillful at killing ideas. They are masters of the creativity killer attitude such as "that'll never work" or "it's too risky." The best in-the-box thinkers are unaware that they drain the enthusiasm and passion of innovative thinkers while they kill their innovative ideas.

They also believe that every problem needs only one solution; therefore, finding more than one possible solution is a waste of time. They often say, "There is no time for creative solutions. We just need THE solution."

Even great creative people can become in-the-box thinkers when they stop trying. Apathy and indifference can turn an innovator into an in-the-box thinker.

In only one case is in-the-box thinking necessary. This comes from a cartoon: a man talks to his cat and points to the kitty litter box. He says, "Never ever think outside the box!"

Outside the Box
Thinking outside the box requires different attributes that include:

*Willingness to take new perspectives to day-to-day work.
*Openness to do different things and to do things differently.
*Focusing on the value of finding new ideas and acting on them.
*Striving to create value in new ways.
*Listening to others.
*Supporting and respecting others when they come up with new ideas.

Out-of-the box thinking requires an openness to new ways of seeing the world and a willingness to explore. Out-of-the box thinkers know that new ideas need nurturing and support. They also know that having an idea is good but acting on it is more important. Results are what count.
