Hello,

First of all : I'm new to this site so hello to everybody !

Here is my problem :

Management at my work needs an awareness session with respect to the Management Review Process. In fact, This is one request from them ! I think they are so used to work in silos that they don't understand why every manager should meet and "share" ...

I try to mount a Powerpoint presentation but not without difficulties. Does anyone have a file that could help? Besides the statements found in the standard (section 5.6), I do not see what more I could tell them !

In addition, I need that this presentation be visually interesting!

Help! :)

The question suggests we, (the Eslmar Cove), know you are taking about ISO17025:2005. Are you?
The subject seems to be section 4.15 management review, of section 4 being the 15 management requirements. 5.6 is of the 10 technical requirements, and is traceability? Or similar….
It sounds as if you are looking for a beautiful power point presentation to convince management of some need. What is your need? The ISO17025:2005 process requires involvement from many people and departments to be successful. Is it possible you are looking for an introduction to ISO17025:2005 to explain the needs and requirements to the group? Maybe you are asking for support from above through a presentation?
A 17025 tutorial is available @

Another is @

Good luck on your project

Some response is better than no response, so I offer the above...........

Welcome to the Cove.

In case you or they are thinking that this is something new, it's not.

Traditionally, organizations have regular 'management meetings' where the heads of each department or areas report on the progress of their area, the achievement of their goals, problem areas, etc. It is also the avenue where strategies are formulated to overcome problems or build on further success.

Management Review meetings are the same except that you report on quality issues. You can piggy ride on such a management meeting (if its being practice at your place) by adding a new item for discussion/review.

In fact, there is no need for a sit down type of meeting but just a 'review'. Reviews can be done individually by each of the participants and by various methods such as through emails.

I would suggest you need any 'training' materials or that they have to be visually entertaining. YOU need to understand what a review of the QMS means in terms THEY understand, so you can relate it to them. If you cannot help them see the business relevance no amount of Powerpoint slides, clip art etc. will help them, quite honestly. Particularly, if you are going to give the presentation...

I'd suggest you develop a 'story' as to why the review is important to them, how the 'topics' fit and what the expected outcomes are - so they can understand the benefit to them, personally, in achieving their business objectives.

Ok ! Quick reply : Two "interesting" ideas (for of course, my particular case) :
- it could be done by email (pro : can accelerate review con : face to face is usually preferred);
- a "story" could hep them understand ...

Hopefully, we will work some day in a world without "silos" ... ;)

Thanks to all that helped :)

I would not recommend this approach to people. It is not clear from the standard whether this would meet the requirements, but it certainly does not meet the intent of the requirement. But, I don't want to sidetrack on that as that is not my main point.

The output from MR meetings is supposed to be agreement as to course adjustments, changes, etc. That is the link to P-D-C-A. To achieve these from individual review is usually far weaker than the dynamics achieved when there is a multi-functional team meeting.

Also, management reviews do not need to be a "separate" meeting. You can add the review agenda to any regular meeting conducted with the appropriate management representatives present. I think we make too much of this. Spend a few extra minutes at planned intervals and address your QMS. Record the minutes and follow-up. There is no need to complicate things; after all it's hard enough to get everyone in a room to discuss day-to-day operations much less QMS issues. Sad but true, in most small business settings.

Additionally you may find that once this is conducted you will start to get more “buy-in” from management. Now that they understand what the objectives are. Those silly execs and their MBA’s…:notme:

I wish piggyback on regular or casual management meeting would work. In reality, our quarterly management review requires a report from each department head, usually in presentation slide format, or even just one or two page of summary report. We, as QA incorporate their reports into ours which is kind of used as the agenda for the meeting. Considering the time of preparation beforehand, I don't think it's doable just to insert some QMS related topics into a regular meeting to make it a management review in this sense. Just my thoughts. :D

It depends on the size & scope of the organization. What's important is that the organization find away to conduct the review that is not only efficient but effective. Management reviews can be very beneficial when approached as more than a task to meet a requirement.

I might be wrong but I'd put it to them like this;

"These are the requirements, abc etc. How you do it it's up to you but quite apart from what the standard requires; think in terms of what would good corporate governance (management) require?

Monitoring this kind of data enables you to see into business processes and get insight about what happening in them which means you can then make decisions about changes and improvements that need to be made.

You can do this individually, collectively or in your meetings with your own people. Just make sure its documented some how."

hope this helps
