Mandatory Procedures as per EN AS 9100 standard

Hello All,

I read from one article, AS 9100 requires procedures for following clauses

4.2.3 Control of Documents
4.2.4 Control of Records
8.2.2 Internal Audit
8.3 Control of nonconforming material
8.5.2 Corrective Action
8.5.3 Preventive action

In this case how to address other clauses like Management review, Design and development, Internal Audit etc…?

Is there is any mandatory procedures list required as per EN AS 9100 standard?

Re: Seeking mandatory procedures as per standard

You can create and maintain as many "procedures" as you feel you will need. However, you must have "documented procedures" for the clauses you have listed, at a minimum. When you read the standard, look for the phrase "documented procedure". You will find that only six are absolutely required, five if you combine C&PA.

The new version of the standard is nice in that it allows you some latitude to use other methods for conveying process instructions. For instance, we do our D&D in accordance with a couple FAA imposed documents (RTCA docs). Hence, we can refer to those as our D&D procedures.

Here are a few more AS9100 documentation requirements:

4.3 Configuration Management: The organization shall establish, document and maintain a configuration management process appropriate to the product.

7.5.1.2 Control of Production Process Changes: Changes affecting processes, production equipment, tools and programs shall be documented. Procedures shall be available to control their implementation.

7.5.1.3 Control of Production Equipment, Tools and Numerical Control Machine Programs: Production equipment, tools and programs shall be validated prior to use and maintained and inspected periodically according to documented procedures.

7.5.3 Identification and Traceability: When acceptance authority media are used (e.g., stamps, electronic signatures, passwords), the organization shall establish and document controls for the media.

8.2.4.1 Inspection Documentation: Measurement requirements for product or service acceptance shall be documented. This documentation may be part of the production documentation, but shall include a record of the measurement results.

sasiengineer - you say you got your information from an article you read - you would be better off spending your time reading the standard.

I can't remember if you told us whether you have a copy of AS9100B. Do you? As Badgerman said - go through the standard and look for the phrases "documented procedure" and "shall be documented" and "documented controls". It's all right there in the standard - really, it is.
