Marc Smith Obituary

I knew this day would come but am still feeling sad to find it is here. Marc welcomed me when I was very much feeling a need to be welcomed, and he was wholeheartedly encouraging ever since. I have found family here, and Marc was the reason. I knew he knew his health was failing and so I am very glad he made the moves to ensure this welcoming site would continue to shine out the beacon.

Marc, thank you. I hope to see you again in the Next Place. Until then, rest easy. I will do what I can here meanwhile. :bighug:

Thankyou for your warmth and message here.

Just finished reading a thread regarding necromancy of old threads ... I am going to cease trying to craft an appropriate statement for this textbox, and just thank him.

I tried reaching out to Marc a week ago and did not hear back, so I did a search and found the sad news. I wish I had one more conversation with Marc...he was a great guy and very giving. I remember when Jen joined the Cove and her comments are appropriate. He made many of us feel welcome, even a number of the 'troublemakers' who could try his/our patience. He made room for everyone.

The Cove was born out of a need to support his clientele, but it quickly morphed into a site for a number of Quality folks who needed answers, and often each other. Quality isn't the easiest profession to be part of as many know. But the ability to share stories, solutions, and sometimes our pain made life in our realm, a little easier. Marc is to thank for that, providing his creation to all of us. It wasn't easy in the early days either. Marc paid out of his pocket to keep the Cove independent, accepted financial donations from a bunch of us begrudgingly. But he never really complained about it. Marc was a giving man...just ask the critters about his Ranch.

I will miss him...but I won't forget him. I don't think many of us will.
