So, is anyone else here excited about the Mars rover? NASA just released a mosaic of color pictures that are extremely sharp and detailed.

Oh, absolutley.

I always follow this kind of carry-on with a keen eye. It still amazes me that man is able to get things (not to mention people) of the planet at all.

Richard,
Did you ever see that commercial with the aliens printing off pictures of an arid red landscape and holding them in front of a Mars explorer?

I only get four weeks holiday a year and it takes seven months to travel to Mars and the landing looks a little rough. I think i'll continue to holiday at the beach.

Space, the final frontier.....

It's amazing, 100 years after the Wright brothers' experiment, we have a vehicle on Mars. I wonder which theories will be disproven.

I know its a million to one, but wouldn't it be neat if the rover found the Beagle?

I was actually watching the NASA channel the other night and they said that Wednesday (today) was the actual day that the Beagle II was supose to wake up. I might have this wrong but they said that the fact that it is not communicating rightnow is not a huge surprise. Maybe by tonight it will be.

Tom and everyone:

I think the answer to your question is contained here:

http://www.cnn.com/2004/TECH/space/01/07/mars.beagle.ap/index.html

Sorry, I havn't figured out how to make it a link yet, but just copy and paste in your browser.

In short, it looks like they have indeed lost contact. What a shame.

Craig

Oh, it makes it a link it automagicly. Cool, Marc!

Yeah Craig I think you are right. I watched the coverage of the Beagle II landing over xmas and they were trying to blame the fact of the distinct lack of communication on the satalite not being in sync with the Beagle!!

Well done NASA on a successful mission....i do hope our robot is found though!! But then again GPS doesn't work too well (in my experience) in britian anyway............................
