Mechanical Drawing Aprovals

Somewhere I have seen it written that before release mech prints must be signed by the originator, checked by a second person, and then approved (not necessarily by either of the first two people). It is in my procedures but now I can't find where it calls for it in the standards. (ISO 9001, QS 9000, TE). Did I just make it up?

You might check the ANSI drafting standards. I seem to remember something there about sign-off responsibility.
It's a long reach, but you can get there from QS-9000.
