Method of Document Management (Control) in Engineering - Please Review

HI everyone

While going deeply in the document management

I defined a way for numbering procedures, wi´s , specs., records, tests, etc.

Please advice on the attached excel file.

Mainly what is managed by Quality and what is done by Engineering and considering generic specifications, tests, checklist, etc. and when become in records.

I´ll appreciate your feedback, for those who have experience in the Engineering area.

Frankly speaking, I understood very few from the attached file. The only feedback I can give is to be general and provide these kind of info un document control or record control documented procedures.
Besides, it seems to to me that you use a manual approach for this, pls consider an electronic tool that is commonly on the market to help in the activities. There a re many and not so expensive. They assign automically the id# number, assure storage, workflow for approval and notification , change mgmt etc...:bigwave:

I'm with qusys. Couldn't understand your file either. You must be dealing with many documents manually if you think you need such a complex numbering scheme.

Document numbering should be automatic and out of the way. If folks need to consult a procedure just to find or number a document, then you are probably doing it wrong. You really should look into dedicated doc control software or a wiki.

Ok you are right, the excel file is not self-explanatory

What I wanted to share is how documents are named when referred into a procedure
( a spec, a checklist, etc.) and the names or ID they take when become part of a project (as records).

For the automatic numbering, control, etc., of course, I´m evaluating to get a Software for the management of docs. but first a want to define clearly the basement.
