We're having a problem at my lab where good metrologists are doing a lot of non-technical things, such as rounding up and staging equipment, the paper shuffle end of transferring equipment, scheduling off-site calibrations, fetching printouts from the recall system, etc. when we're supposed to be writing calibration procedures, maintaining control charts, performing uncertainty calculations, evaluating new equipment and other "science projects". So I'm trying to come up a list of duties for a Metrology Logistical Support person.
The Metrology Handbook from ASQ has a good start under Chapter 38: Personnel Oganizational Responsibilities, where logistical support personnel do scheduling, material handling, document control, and other administration tasks, but I'm trying to make an outline as if it was a job description.
Attached is what I've come up with so far, take a look and add whatever else I might have missed. If anybody is willing to share any description that their employer has come up with, I'd appreciate that too.
