Microsoft Losing Big To Apple On Campus

May be based more on its integration with ipod, iphone and ipad than its overall utility with software. Incoming freshmen have unique priorities compared to days past...

I really think that Bob has an excellent point. I did a nonscientific survey of my own before buying my youngest his "graduation/off-to-college" computer. Most of the kids around here are still Mickeysoft users, by a fairly big margin. iPhones do not work in this area (I guess we are that 3% they talk about in the commercials), so the whole iToys thing just has not caught on other than iPods.

When I took my masters of education courses, they used PowerPC, because apples had been so integrated in K-12 with their years of promotion in that area that they needed something that would straddle the fence. It is the only area outside of the arts that the Apples are seen on campus in any significant quantity (as in Apple computer labs). It seems as though the ipod, iphone and especially i-tunes have generated more interest in apple computers than all of the earlier promotion.

'Hey, this company that made this really fantastic to use phone also sells computers?'

Just think what would have happened if they made game boxes...:tg:

The best PC game of the year came out on Mac as well. :) Since you upgraded to Windows 7 if you have a decent video card I have a guest pass (7 hours of full unrestricted play) you can have.

Well, we can give it partial credit as a game console, I guess.

Thanks for the offer, but the chances of me having time to game is very remote...and, not as in control.:tg:

You can dual boot right into Windows or use Parallels (or other virtual machine software) and run any Windows program you want to use in a tightly integrated (but sandboxed!) environment. The integration issue simply isn't any longer....A lot of businesses are starting to run in their OSes in VMs anyway because of the sandbox aspects.

And yet, some are not...:D
