Dear all
As per IATF rule book 5, clause 4.2 d), for a new IATF 1649 third party lead auditor, the required working experience is as following.
"must have four (4) years full time appropriate practical experience (including two (2) years dedicated to Quality Assurance and/or Quality Management activities) in within the past fifteen (15) years in an automotive manufacturing organization."
Based on this requirement, which one of these statement is correct.
1. Only four years working experience is sufficient for eligibility provided this four years experience is within last fifteen years.
OR
2. Fifteen years working experience is required out of which fours years should be in quality assurance or QMS.

Regards
RS

You may want to see if a 3rd Party CB would hire you and you would receive the balance of training needed. Just my opinion.

Yes, I want to know whether a person having five years experience (from 2013 to 2018) can be accepted by a CB for IATF 16949 third party auditor course.

Firstly, there is an error in your description, the fifteen (15 ) years should be ten (10) years.

I quoted the original content of the IATF "Rules for achieving and maintainning IATF recognition, 5th edition, 1st November 2016" as follows:
4.2 d) has four (4) years full time appropriate practical experience (including two (2) years dedicated to Quality Assurance and/or Quality Management activities) in the past ten (10 ) years in an organization meeting the applicability of IATF 16949 ( see section 1.0)

The interpretation is:
  • Totally you have to have at least 4 years working experience. This experience should be full time and practical, the work should be at an automotive organization which is applicable for IATF 16949 certification scope.
  • Among these 4 years, you must work on QA or QM function more than 2 years.
  • These 4 years working experience should be obtained in the recent 10 years. For example, if you worked as QM in automotive industry for 6 years in 12 years ago, but after that you work in a non-automotive industry, that 6 years of experience will not be counted.
  • You don’t need 10 years or working experience, 4 years is sufficient if it meet above requirements.
So your statement 1 would be correct if you have changed "fifteen years" to "ten years"

Hope it helps !
