Sorry guys,
I had no idea that an exe was not a valid file for attachments to replies  .
Here's the map in Word format. It's not as powerfull but, I guess you'll get the gist.
Wallace,

You should be able to attach the file if you zip it first.

I'm not familiar with mind mapping, can one of you do an overview for me?
Thanks
Certainly Rosie,

I suggest a visit to the Buzan Centers site. Tony Buzan invented the Mindmap concept. To put it very short, the gist of the mindmapping technique is to write or rather draw things in the manner your brain works, not in straight lines of text.

We have discussed mindmaps before, in the following threads:

Process Approach - Take2
ISO 9001 Internal Paragraph Cross References (You'll find one of my maps there)

I repeat: It is a great tool and I highly recommend it.

Map by Claes

Claes,
I like your map.
The format is somewhat close to what I used to set up a non ISO 9001 QMS for a client recently. I notice you are using Mind manager?
Yeah, my client had actually requested that I form the QMS as part of their corporately structured business practices. It took me some time and, yes I was very impressed myself with the QMS set-up throughout my clients organization.
The quality focus rep said to me that they had decided to dump the ISO standards because of never ending demands from both the registrars and clients that insisted they have a registered and certified QMS in place. This, I have noted is a trend that is becoming more evident within many forward thinking business managers.
I don't necessarily agree with this stance yet it's clear that the ISO 9001 standard is becoming a bothersome burden to many organizations.

I'd say that everyone should experiment a bit to find the style of mindmapping that best suits their personal needs.

As for tools I happily use both paper and software, it all depends on the situation. The software I use is mindmanager.

Mind map examples

I have actually tried to attach some map files and failed due to the fact that they are way are over the 800000 bites limit for attachments.
The best that I can attach to posting at the cove is to export the map to "word" and let you all see a couple of examples of what I have made up. ;)
You should be viewing the maps in word format with a map image at the top of the page.
Again, if any of those at the cove are interested in viewing maps as they should be viewed, I would be glad to forward them to you as an exe file. Just provide me with an Email address to send them to (Not a cove Email account).

Mind Mapping books

I would very much like to read more about this topic in book form as opposed to online. Can anyone recommend a good read - preferably one with some good examples?

Mind mapping book

Hi Sue,
I would recommend an excellent no-nonsense explanation of Mind mapping according to "Joyce Wycoff".
Her excellent book is called "Mindmapping" ISBN # 0-425-12780-X.

The references made to the Buzan form of hand drawn maps are true to the Buzan angle, so I would advise you to be cautious when investigating the hand drwan Buzan angle.

Mind mapping in the virtual world of PC's is a different animal all together so, without throwing you out of sync before you even get started, don't look at anything related to mind mapping on the web until you have read the book and have practiced some hand drawn maps for yourself.
If you need any help regarding choosing a Mind mapping software that suits your needs, send me a private message at the Cove and, I'll be pleased to help you Sue.
Wallace.

That is good advice, Wallace. I agree.

Mind mapping follow-up

As a follow-up,
Has anyone who has viewed the mind maps that Claes and I have posted, taken an interest in Mind mapping and how far have you taken the initial interest?
If you have taken an interest, please share your experience and how you may be using this tool within your specific arena?
Wallace.
