Minor Audit Nonconformance Against Determining the scope of QMS

The way it was explained to me is that on the external audit reports of our remote locations, there is a section for supported sites that my company should have been listed on. Since the nonconformance was found during our audit, we unfortunately have to be the ones to correct the issue. I guess we will have to reach out to our remote locations and let them know, hey, on the next audit, do not forget to tell your external auditor to put us on the audit report as a supported site and the functions you provide us with. :rolleyes:

While the scope of the audit of the remote locations should have been much better scrutinized by both parties (the CB and your organization) so this type of snafu does not happen, I am afraid that, from a CORRECTION (component of the corrective action process) standpoint, all of the remote sites would have to be re-audited to ensure that the processes they are responsible for, as it relates to YOUR plant are in conformity. Or, the CB might pretend there is no correction necessary.

Nevertheless, as I said in YOUR internal audit program, this also should have been addressed.

When any support location is not included in scope, it is generally taken care of during stage 1 audit. The intent of stage 1 audit is to understand main site, extended sites and remote locations. It is not left for stage 2 audit. The interactions of processes is also reviewed at stage 1.
There are certain IATF 16949 clauses, in which NCs are generally not raised. 4.3.1 is also one of them.
If all processes have not been covered in internal audit, it goes to clause 9.2.2.1 of IATF 16949. Raising NC against 4.3.1 is wrong.
An auditor can not raise NC like " Finding: Remote location external audit reports did not show evidence of auditing the support interfaces with the organization for all functions.". He/ she should tell which function is left out.
