But if there is this stack of work orders, that... well.. we think are completed, but we really don't know who and when they were completed because there is no signature or date, then it's not a duplication and needs to be considered for process improvement.

See #16. We can debate all day long the "what if's" and still get nowhere. What if there was a stack? What does it mean? Good auditors dig into this, look for the cause and effect...

I'm not talking about the audit finding, Andy. I addressed that separately.

My point was about assessing potential process improvements; whether they are part of an audit finding or not.

It's tough. When we transitioned from QS to TS I swore to myself that we would never "accept" these bogus non-conformances. And then one happens. A choice has to be made. Path of least resistance or fight? Unfortunately, sometimes the fight isn't worth it. I had an auditor issue a "finding" against a an old, approved, PPAP of a legacy part because we didn't have a "key date" filled in on our PFMA. Talking to him and his superiors was like talking to a bag of marbles. I got nowhere. So we "fixed it" and moved on. Unfortunately, sometimes you can't fight city hall.

Agreed. Too.. if you have people in the organization who just "accept" these things....

And, in doing so, you open everyone else who is audited by that auditor to the same round of non-value added findings, thereby helping to hasten the very thing you rail against. If you couldn't get a suitable response from their management, guess what? That's what ACCREDITATION BODIES and oversight (IAOB) are there for. Plus, you can move your certificate.

To all those here who participate in this lemming like response to bogus findings, I'd ask you when YOU are going to "STOP THE INSANITY" (apologies to Susan Powter)
