Mobile Auto Valeting Services - Waste Disposal (Environmental Perspective)

Hi - I'm new here and enjoying browsing the site - seems very well put together

Does anyone have any experience of dealing with mobile valeting companies from an environmental perspective.

I've been in the job 2 weeks, and the guy before me stopped the mobile valeting (we have about 100 people and this was considered one of the many perks, as people could get their cars done while at work therefore not wasting valuable time). The reason it was stopped was something to do with the environment (the fact that the water went into the drains)

I want to put it back in place, does anyone know where to find out what the valeting company should be doing legally so this will not be an issue?

Sounds like something the city may have been involved in. Inquire if there was formal documentation or if this was undocumented.

No it didn't come from the City - its a law my predecessor proactively sought out and it seems all car cleaning companies I have spoken to are unknowingly breaking the law!

I'm speaking to our water providers at the moment so that I am clear on exactly what our supplier must comply with.

It is most likely a local regulation. We have to be careful in our area. There is a difference between a storm drain and a sewer drain. A storm drain is the one found in a parking lot. Our storm drains drain untreated into environment. So you are not supposed to dump watewater into those drains. That must go into the sewer drain system to be treated. Illegal dumping into the storm drains is a large issue and our county alone has leveled fines into the millions of dollars in total. My company even make new hires watch a video from the Drain Commission as part of orientation.
