What's a fine? A day's salary

Dear Covers:

Sosa got fined. The fine is reportedly largest in Cubs history

But, read on. Sammy Sosa was fined $87,400 - just one day's salary - for arriving late and leaving early at the Cubs' regular-season finale at Wrigley Field. His agent said Thursday that Sosa most likely will file a grievance.

Why the fine? Sosa got angry and said he was getting tired of the Cubs' manager Baker blaming him for their failures. Manager Dusty Baker told reporters he wanted Sosa to be in top shape next season.

So, an angry Sosa arrived 70 minutes before Sunday's first pitch, and he apparently left 15 minutes after the game started without putting on his uniform, according to security cameras in the team's parking lot at Wrigley Field. Sosa told the Chicago Sun-Times he was in the clubhouse until the seventh inning.

The Chicago Tribune reported the fine is the largest in Cubs history. But, never mind, it is still just one day's salary.

Cari:

Catch "3" on ESPN and it might help. Its about Dale E Sr. I watched it last night, and it's not too bad.

Even though I'm in the DEEP SOUTH and am surrounded by rabid Nascar fans, I don't follow Nascar AT ALL, but I did catch "3" on ESPN and thought it was good. Didn't expect to sit there and watch it, 'cause like I said I'm not a fan, but it caught me.

Thanks, Craig - I did catch it the other night. Not bad - I kinda wanted it to move along a little here and there but overall a pretty good story. They really did a heck of a job casting for Sr. - that guy wasn't as tall as Sr., but I don't think anyone else could have looked more like him - he had all of Sr.'s mannerisms down pat.
