MSA--Should I Use Parts or Gage Pins?

I need to complete MSA for PPAP. I have a circular flat plate that is 0.8mm thick. Do I have to use the parts for my 10 samples or can I use gage pins that are similar in size?

It depends on what you mean by MSA. MSA is an omnibus term that includes:
  • Bias
  • Linearity
  • Stability
  • Repeatability & Reproducibility (R&R)
Bias and linearity are usually addressed through calibration using a standard. Stability is usually done using a 'standard' part of known value.
R&R is done using actual parts, not standards. The size and geometry of the part can have a strong impact on the results if the part is awkward to hold and measure.
