I understand the risks of performing rework in-house on a supplier’s component. If we find a defect in a supplier component, whether during incoming inspection or later in production, should we issue an RTV, and will the supplier provide credit and cover the logistics and tariff fees? What is the typical industry practice in terms of credit & fee when the defect is confirmed to be supplier-related?

What country are you based in, and what country is the supplier based in? These things (dealing with nonconforming product, supply of investigation reports, return carriage and fees etc) should be included in the contract of supply, possibly as part of the "quality agreement" although it's also a commercial matter
