NCR- Failure of contract review process - NADCAP audit

we had a NADCAP audit recently.

There was an NCR related to Violation of specification. The parameters we maintained for our Periodic test were not matching with the Specification requirements.( for salt spray testing, inclined angle is 30 as per B117 & 6 as per MIL-8625 spec, we done at 30)

According to us this is a wrong interpretation & related to adequacy of document review system.

But the auditor commented it as a failure of contract review process..

Hi, Jins, This NCR mentioned you were not clear and i suggest that you should post the objective evidence and nonconformance description in order to help you better. but i can sure that this is an NCR related to the design and development, contract review, inspection and testing as well as production,etc.

Requirement :
AC7108/4 Rev. C Δ1 B9.3 : Is testing performed in accordance with applicable specification?
Applicable specification # MIL-A-8625F, Para 4.5.5 requires that the test specimens shall be tested for abrasion resistance in accordance with Method 6192.1 of FED-STD-141 (ASTM D4060) using CS-17 wheels with 1000 gram load.

Finding :
The test specimens were not tested using CS-17 wheels. Upon further review of abrasion resistance periodic report for May 2021, It was noticed that the test was performed using CS-10 wheels in place of CS-17 wheels.

Hi, Jin. This finding was addressed as follows:
1.Correction:
a) The test specimens were tested anew for abrasion resistance by us in accordance with Method 6192.1 of FED-STD-141 (ASTM D4060) using CS-17 wheels with 1000 gram load and the results were qualified.
b) The related functional departments organized to review this NCR, no similar questions were found, and no manufactured or delivered nonconforming product as a result of the nonconformance.
c) communicated with the client for this NCR and the client feedback that the product quality was very good in its application.
2.Root cause Analysis:
a) you can analyze it through the execution aspects and check aspects and defined the root cause according to your actual conditions.
b) explain"why" the nonconformance occurred and was not simply a re-wording of the nonconformance statement;
c) you should provide an explanation of the gaps in your QMS that led to the nonconformance, and then revised your QMS documents accordingly
3.Corrective Actions:
a) revised xxx document,Section xxx,Specified:“.........”;
b) training records.
c)......, etc.

Dear Liao,

This is the first time we had done our NDACAP & implemented this systems. till audit we were not knowing this also.

So how to do the root cause analysis

What was the conversation with the auditor? Looks like maybe that you needed to figure out what test the Customer wanted and maybe you only had the capability to do just the one? Not sure?
