Good afternoon,

The company I work for outsources NDT and they are considered a critical vendor. Our preferred vendor has an ISO 9001-2015 registered QMS and I get regular updates when they update the procedures used at our shop. My question is this, we have a mom and pop company come do a little MPI for us occasionally. They have a level 3 whos done all the procedures used but the procedure is a few years old. So, they have some old references E709-14, E3024/E3024M-19 etc. Could this be a problem when we have our annual API audit?

Hi,Thecarter,
1)This is definitely a problem as clearly specified in API Spec Q1 section 5.7.1.5, third paragraph, that the organization shall validate those processes identified by the applicable product specification as requiring validation.
2)You should perform the MPI on your product component and update your process evaluation documentation in accordance with the requirements of the current API monogram product applied.
3) Whether the requirements of an API Spec Q1 9th or an API monogram product, you need to update your information related to MPI.
Hope this helps you.

Hi, from my point of view it could be a problem. It is very much relating to the applicable API Product Specification and what are therin the requirments with regards to the NDE. If there is nothing specified to the date of the standrd e.g ASTM E709, than the latest revision effective shall be used. If there is a specific date mentioned in the API Product Specification you shall follow this Version and also state it in your NDE procedure. Its quite similar with the ASME BPVC and its Specification were very often a specific date of a standard is required it does not matter if superseded or effective. Follow simply the standard mentioned in the product spec or referenced documents in there.
