Need a Creative Way to Introduce our Quality Policy

Strongly agree that to be really effective, it has to be endorsed and preferably presented by the top person/people and it has to be shown to matter by the company leaders (in all positions).

If they don't mean it, or pay little/no attention to it, you can be as 'exciting' as you like introducing it, but the truth is that no one else will pay much attention to it either.

I like the idea of personalising it, discussing it, explaining why it's important and what it means a lot.

I am responsible for gaining ISO certification for my company. We have just completed the development of our quality policy therefore I am looking for a few clever, creative ideas on how to introduce the quality policy to the organization. I want it to be as exciting as possible as the owners and myself are excited about the policy and moving the company toward certification. Any ideas?

cndwillis,

Why not ask the employees (instead of us) how best to generate enthusiasm so the policy affects they way they think and act? Celebrate and use the most creative and effective responses.

Run quizzes to see how well internalized the policy is. Ask employees to think about how the policy affects their work. Does it affect the way employees think and act?

Lastly, ensure the leaders and managers are ready show their unwaivering commitment to the requirements of their policy and management system. Perhaps by running a workshop for them to develop their awareness seminar for employees. They then run these seminars and you can use the materials to update the orientation process for new employees (tail-end of your recruiting process).

Of course, it is the leaders who must sell by their words and actions the value and importance of using and improving the management system to fulfill their policy.

Try not to become the only person doing this.

Good Luck!

John

The card, posters, songs are clever, but I'm not sure how effective. This is a culture shift that should be driven by top management. Although you may be responsible for the certification process, the complete certification should not rest on your shoulders.

Why does your top management want to become certified?
Is there a vision statement
Is there a mission statement?

Becoming certified, what’s in it for the top management, what’s in it for all other members of the company (why should I care about the new policy)?

I think that perhaps this joking around about singing the policy should provide a really good real life example of how most people are going to view gimmicky quality policy delivery methods. This is business, it is the responsibility of top management to provide the vision and lead the way. Unless you are in one of those new age businesses where everybody is all touchy-feely warm and fuzzy, then maybe a remake of Let It Be or Hey Jude would connect with the common man.

Can you have a good catchy music composed and turn your policy into a small song and play it at all occasions as well as sing in chorus as a part of a your morning gathering .. ? ;) :biglaugh:
is it :topic: ..?
I also thought of something like this, and remembered the rapping flight attendant that likely garnered record setting attention on his flightly spiel.

Ridiculous? Undiginifed? Maybe. But it sure was effective.

Did this actually help the company's QMS, or was it just affective as PR/advertising? I don't remember anything about this at all, so it wasn't very effective in my case...:lmao: but I don't work there.
