Need help with creating useful, interesting and good internal web site about QMS!!!

Dear friends,
I’d like to ask your assistance again! ;)

Currently I’m developing a project for making an internal web site about QMS and quality in company in a whole!
We are developing it on MS SharePoint Server 2003. Maybe someone of you did the same project or just has some good and interesting ideas about these questions? :bigwave:

So the main page of the site will have next look (see attachment):

At the left side of the page there will be quick start section:
1. Documents search
2. How to use this site?
3. History of our QMS
4. People involve in quality
5. About quality in www
6. Prize quality desk
7. About CSI
8. Forum about quality in Company
9. What would you like to see in this site?

In the centre of the page there will be News Zone and at the right side there will be hyperlinks to Quality Department Staff and other internal sites in the Company.

So maybe some of you can advise me what section else I can add or what is unnecessary? I'd be thankful for any ideas, thoughts and etc. :applause:

I also would be grateful if you’d be able to share with me some funny pictures about quality subject to liven up internal web site and make it more interesting for the staff. :thanx:

And how do you interest your staff in visiting and using the site? Or they do it be themselves? I’m asking it because we have been had an old version of the QA site for 3 years and almost no one took an interest in using it. :confused:

So the main object of my task I think is to interest our company’s staff in using new version of the site. So I think I can reach it only by making the site more funny and interesting for people. For this I think it’s a good idea to use some funny pictures, stories and etc. :D

But also of course there are useful information for people also should be in site.

As you say, old information will not attract interest. Consequently, I update our information on a daily basis.

One important aspect is two way communication: I have peppered the site with forms and requests for feedback, and I frequently get it. I also try to put what people ask for on the screen. One example is when some of our blue collars told me that they had no idea who and how many we were in the QA dep. I snapped pictures and put us all on the intranet along with brief info about what we do, and why.

Yes, there is that... If there is something funny and/or interesting on the site it will lure people in. Once there, chances are that they will browse around a bit more.

I like your draft page -- Good colour choices, good page organization, good plan for linked pages.

My suggestions are:
- look at your department's responsibilities for additional options (supplier development, internal QMS audits, management review, lessons learned, etc.)
- ask your potential visitors what they would expect to find on the QA site
- keep the site "shallow" where possible -- visitors prefer to get where they want to go without a lot of intermediate links
- if access is restricted, indicate it beside the link -- otherwise people just browsing may click on a link may be sent to a log-on or error page.
- keep the site current

Your request prompted me to look at our division's Quality department website for the first time in about 2 years. Looks better now (they've gone to Sharepoint) but still not very useful for someone outside that department. Your site is much more promising!
