Net Zero

Hi

Can anyone prove that their Company will be Net Zero by XXXX the date their Company have set to be fully at that level?

I cant see it, as we all have mobiles and will no doubt have electric cars, both of which require components that are dug up and sorted by children being paid approx. 69 cents a day (50p). Our laptops probably too

How can each Company meet its targets if its buying and possibly selling items that have a build or a waste stream with components in that don't reduce their footprint etc?

Anyone any ideas?

Do we just retire now and dont work?

I find it very contentious, dont wish to cause a stir, but debatable surely

There are people with bot outlooks

Protestors who utilise all of the above items! that itself is a joke

Apologise, but I'm only asking the question and trying to find a little help solving this

thank you in advance if anyone has the :gossip:answers ;)

It's a pipe dream there is not now or will there ever be Zero Emissions, it can be claimed until the sun comes up on the opposite horizon but it won't happen, not as long as people eat, wear clothes, live in constructed housing, use electricity, drink purified water, go potty and treat the effluent materials (or not), generate trash, and a thousand other things.

Hi

totally agree - what can one do ... Will be interesting to if Boards get aggressive around this issue and want it happen. I think that they will have to take a long hard look at themselves and their spend etc on the "must haves" etc... lose Customers/Suppliers/Staff.. we will have to live in the hills

We must develop more sustainable economies. Currently, ~20-25% of the planet has the resources to be over consumers of goods and services. That % is rising and soon most of Asia and Africa will join that group before 2050. While it might work at a 20% population overconsumption when we get to 50% population over-consuming goods we may as well just be constantly filling landfills with garbage around the planet, destroying the oceans and life going extinct every day. At some point, our technology wont be able to compensate for our destruction and we get into a "We need drinkable water" crisis globally and worse.
