Never been this close to a plane crash...

Just a little venting to my friends at the cove...

I've never been this close to a plane crash. 3407 went down a few miles from my house, and less than 100 yards from a close friends house. My wife works with the daughter of the man who was killed on the ground. I guess it really makes someone think of their own mortality, and the things that are out of our control that can happen to all of us, at any given time. Some of us are joking around "Now it's the best time to fly, what are the odds of it happening again..." but with another trip out of town scheduled soon, it makes one think...

I hope and wish for safe travels for all of my friends here at the cove.

Yeah, not a good thing at all. I've pranged a couple of times, though never in a commercial aircraft.

Probably going to be an icing problem. While watching the Today show it was mentioned that one of the victims was a widow of a passenger of one of the 9-11 planes.......that one has to be really rough on the family

I’m in the Rochester area (about 1 hr east of crash site), this has filled the news all day. It is a tragic incident, my prayers go out to all that are involved.

Not only are the victims and families involved, but a minor issue as the Governor just mentioned on the Radio was that property taxes are due. The Town of Clarence is shut down, so the Governor signed an executive order to be able to extend the tax deadline.

Thank you very much for the note. I will keep others in my thoughts and prayers.

Life is a fleeting moment, isn't it?

It really is........Can you imagine what the folks are thinking that didn't take the plane because of the delay?

A few years ago there were some icing problems with the ATR-72 that American and other airlines fly.........similar design to the Dash 8.

Anymore I prefer not to fly in weedeaters (turbo-props)...it's just me, the aircraft are safe I know, but I'll drive a few hours before I fly in one again.

we had an auditor in this week and he was flying a turbo-prop into Newark last night on his way back home to Heathrow. He was a little less than enthused to fly yesterday. Traveling prayers to any who are traveling.

Every time I fly I say a little prayer folk the folks on the plane. I normally leave myself out because I know I'm covered;)

Pretty scary situation.

I was scheduled to fly home last night on Friday the 13th. The flight was oversold, so I volunteered to come home this morning on Valentines Day instead. Of course I got compensation too, so it turned out to be lucky...
