Hello All,

My name is Harish Sarin (in Gilroy, California). I'm currently working as an audit consultant, trainer, and certified auditor in AS9100, ISO 9001, ISO 14001. My post-graduation (Ph.D in solid-state Physics) activities have been in various design and development efforts in high-technology areas, making different products and dealing with quality and customer satisfaction issues first hand. Recently I've been training several companies towards ISO compliance. Inspite of learning this common-sense discipline as required by the standards, what is most disappointing is that some top managers still run to their short-cuts at the first opportunity and dagger what they have learnt. All this bypassing for a quick buck and old habits, which perhaps are comforting. If I've my way I'll like to change that, and help them go to the next level. I find the forum very useful, so many things I don't know I find them here. It also gives an excellent opportunity to learn through mutual discussions.

Hello All.
My name is nige , I work in Gloucestershire England and am calling on some old skills mixed with new studies to support a new employer in the Quality arena.
I will be happy to post tools and ready made kits that I have found or made along the way through this fresh start.

Look forward to lewaning on your expertise every now and again while I have no problem on you leaning on mine:
City and Guilds Mechanic, CCNP Network Engineer and now back to Quality Management.
I'll be around in fits and starts for a while but am happy to help, I understand the difficulties endured by the often shot at messenger.

Introduction

This appears to be the only way to introduce myself, if I have got it wrong I apologise. My name is John Nelson I am a chartered member of IOSH and I am currently working as a placement officer for apprentices in the construction industry. I spent fifteen months working as a QSHE advisor on DEFRA sites around the country and found it fascinating.

I wish to become better acquainted with OSHAS18001 although I am sixty seven and do not imagine I will find another job in that field. That is all for now and again my apologies if this is not the way.

Re: Introduction

Hello, John!

And Welcome to the Cove, everyone! The Elsmar Cove forum continues to expand and grow. For it to continue to do so, please take a minute and help someone out when you can! Helping each other is important, so Jump Right In!

This is the Introductions thread. If you have a Question, please start a new discussion thread in the appropriate discussion forum and ask your question(s). You might also want to do a Search and read through some existing discussion threads to see if your question has already been asked and answered.

This is a carry-over to change the 'Introduction' questions which was requested. There are minor changes to the original questions Greenraisin posted way back in April 2001. That thread was closed (it was very long) and a new one started. Since we are sorta changing the questions, the second introductions thread is being closed today.

So - This is the 3rd introduction thread...

The new questions (which are 'suggestions' and you are not required to answer any) are:

1. Name (Caution - Remember this *IS* the internet)
2. Job Title or explanation of what you do
3. Industry you're in or have been in
4. Company you work for and location (Caution - Remember this *IS* the internet)
5. Number of years in the Business World
6. Something personal that sets you apart
7. Your pet peeve about business practices (pet peeve is a minor annoyance that can instill a great level of frustration)
8. If you could change something in the Business World, what would that be?

Hi
Names Keith, I am a Quality Manager for a Manufacturing Company in the South of England.
I am new to quality having been in the role for about 18 months. I am currently studying for a diploma in quality and have completed 2 modules so far ( D3 & D6). Just started D2 - Quality management. So could be asking for help on various issues. Researching the various quality awards, especially MBNQA, Demming and EFQM.

Look forward to reading and participating in the various blogs on this site.

Regards to all

8. If you could change the world of quality, what would you do? QUALITY DESERVES MUCH MORE EFFORT AND SUPPORT FROM MANAGEMENT, SO I'D LIKE TO CHANGE THEIR WAY OF THINKING.

I work with ISO/TS 16949, so I'd like to find lots of information about this system. I'd really thank you if I could find specific information about audits -internal, supplier audits-: templates, key questions, and so on.

Best regards!

Hello INAKI.

Just setting up a position with a company in the UK with ISO 9001 I am getting the feeling management here are the same and have little understanding of the quality picture or its benifits.

The only way I can see this little bridge breached is to find somthing that provides pretty quick evidence that what you want to achieve has some credability.

It is very important that some education goes out to the work force and try to get some quality thinking into the working group while advertising you are doing so, to the management.

Maybe even shame them into wanting to know more about their own responsibilities. Be prepared for some holy than thou... some people are shuck in old school regardless of their industrial capability and position.

This has its benefits when the company is on the ropes but in day to day business old school thinking is anti quality in many ways so like I say .. Be prepared for the old dog and new trix issues.

See ya...

Nige

Good to here from you, if I can assist hollar,
