Howdy all,

1. Name (Caution - Remember this *IS* the internet) Eric
2. Job Title or explanation of what you do Manager of a production line for electronic ceramics
3. Industry you're in or have been in Electronic ceramic materials
4. Company you work for and location (Caution - Remember this *IS* the internet)
5. Number of years in the Business World 20
6. Something personal that sets you apart Wrote a book on ceramic processing
7. Your pet peeve about business practices (pet peeve is a minor annoyance that can instill a great level of frustration) That doing a good job and proving that you did a good job needs external audits and verifications because others don't do a good job yet claim to.
8. If you could change something in the Business World, what would that be? Common sense and logic would be more common and more logical. "It must be that 'cause I can't think of anything else" would no longer be a solution method.

7. Your pet peeve about business practices. (pet peeve is a minor annoyance that can instill a great level of frustration) - I just hate it when someone says they will do something and they don't. I rather have a straight up "no" than "Yes I can do it." when they actually don't.
8. If you could change something in the business world, what would that be? - Nothing really. You have to sometimes work with the cards that are dealt to you.

Re: New Folks - Please Take a Minute & Introduce Yourself/Say Hello! Nov 2010

Welcome to the Cove, everyone! The Elsmar Cove forum continues to expand and grow. For it to continue to do so, please take a minute and help someone out when you can! Helping each other is important, so Jump Right In!

This is the Introductions thread. If you have a Question, please start a new discussion thread in the appropriate discussion forum and ask your question(s). You might also want to do a Search and read through some existing discussion threads to see if your question has already been asked and answered.

This is a carry-over to change the 'Introduction' questions which was requested. There are minor changes to the original questions Greenraisin posted way back in April 2001. That thread was closed (it was very long) and a new one started. Since we are sorta changing the questions, the second introductions thread is being closed today.

So - This is the 3rd "Introductions Thread"!

The 'standard' questions (which are *suggestions* and you are not required to answer any) are:

1. Name (Caution - Remember this *IS* the internet)
2. Job Title or explanation of what you do
3. Industry you're in or have been in
4. Company you work for and location (Caution - Remember this *IS* the internet)
5. Number of years in the Business World
6. Something personal that sets you apart
7. Your pet peeve about business practices (pet peeve is a minor annoyance that can instill a great level of frustration)
8. If you could change something in the Business World, what would that be?

Hello all,

My name is Ellie H.
I manage Document Control at a small medical device company in Minneapolis, MN.
I was in the pharmaceutical industry for approx. 10 years and in the Medical Device industry for the past 2.5 years.
What sets me apart from others is my attention to detail on everything that I handle and am apart of, regardless of it being my responsibility. I take pride in all that I do and if I see any inconsistencies I definitely feel the need to correct them with the appropriate people's involvement.
One of my pet peeves is working with people that don't care about what they do and are there only to take home a pay check.

Glad to be a part of the group!!

Hello!

1. My name is Erin.
2. I'm the Director of Marketing for a pipette calibration company. But because we're a small company, I wear many hats - and spend a lot of time understanding, talking and writing about our ISO 17025:2005 (and now ANSI/NCSL Z540-1-1994 and ANSI/NCSLI Z540.3-2006!) Quality Management System.
3. We're in the biotech industry.
4. I work for Calibrate, Inc., a 27-year old company based in RTP, NC
5. 2+ years in the biz
6. Tremendous drive
7. One of my pet peeves in the business is decisions made by purchasing :) (there goes quality, right?)
8. And if I could change anything in the business world, the idea of ethics in business wouldn't be so frequently laughed at

I've stumbled upon this forum a number of times now in search of information about quality management systems and decided that it was time to join.
