The ISO organization has made abundantly clear that it wants to boost it's portfolio of standards directed at the Service Sector.

It would not surprise me if one of the eventual products coming from this or another ISO TC is an ISO 9001-like standard for service organizations. Despite the ongoing attempt to make ISO 9001 more user friendly to service organizations, the standard, as is, still has roadblocks, especially the section that deals with product service design and development. The service development process is not the same cycle used for a hardware D&D.
