You cannot and shouldn't be making your customers be responsible for whether you are compliant (or not) with your own system and its standards, processes, etc. That's dumping responsibility onto your customer. (A bit like building and selling a car, and then saying to the person driving it out of the showroom "Tell me if it doesn't work properly". Nuh.
The responsibility belongs with you as the supplier. YOU are the one who has to ensure you comply with your own system. You're supposed to be identifying the needs of your customer, communicating with them, and ensuring their needs are met with consistency. That's the thrust of 9001.
That's what I'm thinking which is why I am suggesting we "go the whole hog"....then our customers become the reviewers of the proposals we write, and let us know if we are compliant or not, regardless of if we win or lose the business. Does that make sense?
