Obsolete jobs

When you no longer run a project and dies are shipped back to customer. How long are you required to maintain those samples?

I would think this should have been included in the quality agreement with your customer. If it's not covered in the agreement, maybe you could contact the customer and see what they require in terms of retain samples and retention period (some regulatory agencies require a longer retention period for some products). If the samples are exclusive to your customer, they would probably want to retain the samples, I would imagine. At any rate, maybe a conversation with your customer would be helpful. :)

Thanks for your response. I would have to get with upper management because we no longer do business withthem.

You're welcome. Another thing to consider: if the customer purchased the dies, they may want them back.

Yes, we no longer have the dies in out facility. Th customer has them. I know on the standard we have record retention, but nothing about obsolete PPAP parts.
