Operator Checks - How to show that they were completed on a checklist as acceptable

#1
Good day
Question for operator checklists from a Control Plan for 4 pieces for a Visual check.

In the past when the check was done we would place a check in the box that the check was completed for the 4 pieces.
Now someone said with IATF we have to place in the box "4" to indicate that "4" good checks were done.

is this correct? is there a better way to do this as I see people NOT filling out the paper correctly as sometimes they look at 1, then 4, then 8, etc.

thank you!:thanks:

Re: Operator Checks - how to show that they were completed on a checklist as acceptab

You could probably do it a number of ways. But the more complicated, the easier it is to make a mistake. IATF doesn't require anything specific. However, they have become stringent about verifying the number of checks. We had an issue because we said check 5, but our recording software was set up to record 2 or 3 or whatever they setup before ISO was even written. Auditor wanted to see 5 recordings and/or suggested we change the requirement to only record hi and low readings. If it was me, I would go with your check mark and if it was ever raised as an issue be prepared to change it up. Good luck.

What do you record if the visual check indicates (a) nonconforming part(s)?
A check mark only indicates that that visual inspection took place.
Would you also be interested in the type/classification of the defect(s)?
