AIAG MSA manual indicates ANOVA will give Operator*part interaction if available. Can any one explain what is meant by "Operator*part interaction " & in what scenario this can come - any examples of operator * part interaction.

Thanks in advance

I found this on "Operator-Part" interaction. Not the complete story, but nice examples.

Also, look at this thread.

Re: Operator*part interaction

An Operator*Part interaction means that two or more operators may measure different parts differently.

Take an example where you have shafts that vary in form as well as having varying degrees of a burr on the end.

Operator A measures in the center of the shaft, takes the max and min diameters, averages them and records the average. Measuring in the center eliminates any impact from the burr and averaging dampens the effect of ovality.

Operator B measures on the end randomly. Measuring on the end means that some measurements may be influenced by the burr. Random measurements are influenced by the full impact of ovality.

This would likely show up as an Operator*Part interaction because different operators measure different parts differently.
