What is the accepted definition of "other requirements".

e.g. we have
1. legislative&normative country requirements
2. corporate requirements (two other companies of two other countries are shareholders of our company so we have to compy with their companies' regulations)
3. internal requirements

since with the 3 standards (9,14,8) it always talks about this chain legislative, normative and OTHER requirements (supposed to be non-mandatory, non-obligatory).

generally some of the documents say these are req. of diff. associations, communities, NGOs, public commitments, advertisements, etc.

I am little bit lost. If we don't have those ^-)? (as described above) but the standard says that we have to comply with them then it means we have not identified them ^-)...

So, probably the question is
1. WHAT is the definition of OTHER requirements and
2. WHAT to do if we don't have those?

OK here's something you may not have been "trained". Annex A of ISO 14001 provides guidance on the use of ISO 14001, that's why it is called "ISO 14001:2004 - Requirements with guidance for use" ... It has GUIDANCE!

A.3.2 provides this GUIDANCE...

A.3.2 Legal and other requirementsThe organization needs to identify the legal requirements that are applicable to its environmental aspects.

These may include
a) national and international legal requirements,
b) state/provincial/departmental legal requirements,
c) local governmental legal requirements.

Examples of other requirements to which the organization may subscribe include, if applicable,
agreements with public authorities,
agreements with customers,
non-regulatory guidelines,
voluntary principles or codes of practice,
voluntary environmental labelling or product stewardship commitments,
requirements of trade associations,
agreements with community groups or non-governmental organizations,
public commitments of the organization or its parent organization,
corporate/company requirements.

The determination of how legal and other requirements apply to an organization's environmental aspects is
usually accomplished in the process of identifying these requirements. It may not be necessary, therefore, to
have a separate or additional procedure in order to make this determination.

That's a simple as it gets and there is no need to try to interpret.

No slam intended, but maybe you should ask for your money back from whoever trained you because they didn't seem to give you what you thought you paid for.

You have to use the whole standard, not just 4.1-4.6

I really appreciate your assistance BUT

if getting advice here ALWAYS means being blamed for inappropriate training/education/experience etc.

plus

references are given with the comment of OBLIGATION to know the document that is referenced (and hint of being stupid/untrained on the existence of that document)

then

thank you very much

probably this forum is not for me.

if I knew where to find everything I would not have be here in the first place and secondly I don't want to be "scolded" each time I ask a question for not knowing/reading something or getting inappropriate training where they have not covered this particilar issue in the curricular.

(((

(to make it even more clear... you personally ask any question and I shall reference to a document where you can find this and shall start talking of you being unqualified, untrained, not reading documents, not having those documents, not knowing the basics etc.) OR... maybe I am not right... but let it be so...

Be calm. You are relatively new here. Part of an internet forum is learning the personalities. Randy definitely has an online personality here in so far as how he responds to questions. In this case Randy did give you the information you needed, even if you did not like the tone or tenor of his response. I do agree Randy could have left out a bit of the caustic tone. But - That's pretty much Randy.

Other Requirements, when you read it in any standard, makes an assumption that you are aware of - Well, other requirements such as state, local and federal requirements (at least in the US that's the scheme). As Randy pointed out in the case of ISO 14001:2004 - Requirements with guidance for use, within the ISO 14001 standard A.3.2 answers your question. There is literally a list. It is very clear. Randy took the time to post it as a "Fair Use' snippet of the document so he deserves some credit for taking the time to do so.

The question now is (and this has nothing to do with training): Do you have a copy of ISO 14001? Have you read it through cover to cover? If you do not have a copy, you should get a copy.

That is essentially what Randy pointed out to you. The standard is pretty clear as written.

<snip> 2. WHAT to do if we don't have those?
Do you mean, what do you do if your country does not have one or more of those specific listed requirements?

Or, do you mean what do you do if your country has one of the listed requirements but you are do not have a copy of it so you don't know if you are complying with the requirements?

I think he means 'what if the organization is not submitted to other requirements?'. Every country has them. Wheter or not you are submitted to them and what impact they will have should show in the obligated procedure tot identify those other requirements.

correct?
