Good Day

This is my first time I am posting in this forum.

I am a quality control officer in IICS, Rawalpindi, Pakistan. My lab is moving towards ISO-17025 certification. For the calibration of electronic equipment, we are using Wavetek 9100.

Yesterday, when I was in the middle of calibration process for Fluke multimeter, when I moved to the current section, I received the error of "Over Compliance" in my calibrator (Wavetek-9100), even when I applied very small currents.

I tried again and again.... even on some other different multimeters.... but all in vain......Please help me out.... how can I recover my calibrator? Where does the problem lie....? is it a hardware problem or somewhat software issue....????

Thanks to all

Re: Over Compliance Error message in Wavetek 9100

A shot in the dark; pop the 9100's chassis open and look at the top. Everything is covered up and shielded very well so it looks like there's nothing you can mess with. However there are some embedded fuse holders. Use a screwdriver to pop them open and remove the fuses. Use a multimeter to check continuity and see if they are blown. Replace as necessary.

Re: Over Compliance Error message in Wavetek 9100

Thanks a lot Pezikon for your reply.

I would like to add one more finding. While going through the manual of Wavetek-9100, We came across the "Error Types" and it indicates that this "Over Compliance" error is related to type "C" errors and for this type of errors, it is advised to consult the service centre. Also, this manual said that, "Before consulting to the service centre, please go through the "Full Self Test" of the equipment and if the same error appears in the self test, then consult service centre. BUT MY EQUIPMENT PASSED THE SELF TEST AND THE PROBLEMS IS STILL THERE EVEN AFTER SELF TEST QUALIFICATION. PLEASE DO HELP ME......

Regards

Yesterday, when I was in the middle of calibration process for Fluke multimeter, when I moved to the current section, I received the error of "Over Compliance" in my calibrator (Wavetek-9100), even when I applied very small currents like 1mA or even for 1microA. As soon as I press the load button, it immediately trips and displays the error of Over Compliance

I would like to add one more finding. You're sure you don't have a blown fuse in the multimeter you're testing?
Do you still get the error if you link the +ve and -ve current output from your 9100?
Sorry for the simple suggestion, but no one else mentioned it and its always worth asking...

@ fast_hedgehog... thanks for your reply

I have checked the same multimeter on a different calibrator and it was OK.

I have not linked both the +ve and -ve current output of the Wavetek Calibrator, thinking that it could not be potentially safe.....

Dear All

Thank you very much for your comments.:thanx:

I would like to inform all of you that we have resolved this "Over compliance" issue. It was basically a software issue. What we have done is given below:-

After connecting the UUT, and of course Switching on the power of Wavetek Calibrator, ------ Select "A" for Ampere------ On the Screen, Press "Select Output" button----- On the vertical right side of the screen, Select "Auxiliary Output"------- Then press Load "ON" button.... that's it.... it did not tripped.

The reason behind its tripping was that we were selecting "Normal Output" instead of "Auxiliary Output"....:mg:

Just thought that this might be helpful to someone in future..... :)

Best regards
