Hi all,
Hopefully I've posted this in the right place. I am developing some labeling for a shelf box which contains multiple identical medical devices within it. I am researching how I can display on the shelf box labeling the quantity of medical devices within the box, and due to EU member state language requirements, I would like to use a symbol to depict this (i.e., instead of stating "Quantity: 20", where "Quantity" would need to be translated into the languages of the member states that we distribute into).
ISO 15223-1 has no such symbol, but ISO 7000 does - symbol 2794. This symbol depicts a packaging unit, and, as the description in ISO 7000 states, a number can be placed in the middle of the symbol to indicate the number of units within the package. However, this description also states that the main field of application for this symbol is dentistry, and that there is no "restricted application" for this symbol. The device in question is not within the field of dentistry.
Can anyone advise whether it would be permissible to use this symbol on shelf box labeling for a non-dental equipment medical device? For reference, attached is a PDF printout of the symbol and its description.
Thanks!
