We are performing our first gauge r&r study tomorrow and I am wondering if there are any last minute suggestions to successfully complete it. Any problems or issues to avoid or experiences to make it go more smoothly. Thanks to all for your help.

What type of gage?
Do you already have a spreadsheet or gage R&R program setup?
Just explain to the operators to use the gages as they were trained and record HONEST readings. You are not there to judge them. But if they are using the gages wrong you will retrain as needed.

Typical gage R&R i'm experienced with is-
3 operators
10 pieces
3 times each piece
(10 in a row randomly - repeat 2 more times randomly)
Next operator repeats.

Just what Bob said... +
Select your parts carefully so that they represent the entire process range adequately.

Tell us how it goes. Good luck.

Part Selection

We are a metal stamping company. I always select parts that represent the population of the production run. Typically three at the beginning of a coil of material, four in the middle and another three at the end.

Appraisers, as Atul mentioned, need to feel at ease with what they are doing. They are not being judged in any way. That point must be clear!

Hope this helps.
