Re: Permissible Exclusions - ISO9001 - Need an opinion

It does not make any sense for the quality manual to have a section for something that is not applicable. The minimum requirements of a quality manual are listed in paragraph 4.2.2 of ISO 9001
Was the wagging finger smilie designed for you, Sid?

To the OP I recommend you get the tech manager's approval of exclusion, in writing, prior to the audit.
Good advice. I emailed our registrar's tech manager about a lot of stuff when I was working on getting registered to AS9100. I was not familiar with it and was educating myself and he really helped alot.

I am not currently working with a registrar. I am working, like I stated in a previous post, from a "canned" Quality Manual, Procedures, Forms, and the like, that you format to your needs. The point of doing it this way was to do most of the work ourselves. (The company that I purchased the templates from suggested that you could do this easily:bonk: ) So at this point, I am going to write the exclusion based on the fact that we only produce the product from blueprints the customer provides. That just seems like the logical thing to do. I feel, after reading many of the posts, that the subject of my original post is getting over analyzed and speculated on a little too much. I will stick to what seems the most logical for my situation.:D

That is the spirit:applause: . If you educate yourself, you don't need no stinking:tg: CB technical manager making decisions for you. We can dialogue, but it is YOUR SYSTEM. Using common sense and knowledge (which can be partially acquired here), you make the calls that make sense to you and your organization.
Just keep in mind that threads here sometimes get derailed. You will have to search for your answers. Don't get offended if sometimes you get more feedback than you asked for. It is never personal.

I am not offended by more feedback than I asked for, because essentially, that is what I asked for right? ;) I am appreciative of the response. So those of you who were offended by my last post, I apologize.

Well, it is really just a character fault most of us share, it is coded in our DNA, sorry:eek:

I am right there with ya! It does seem to be something that is encoded into the DNA. And also could be the result of any amount of time spent in the military? (DH was in the USN for 8 years... our house is even run with a QMS. LOL!)
