After reading through this thread several questions immediately come to mind:
First, would someone please explain how a client that is contracted through PJR for QS9000 would have the intimate knowledge of the accrediting bodies' plan to perform the TS accred. audit at PJR?
Second, what is the BIG deal about PJR becoming accredited for TS 16949? Could it be the lingering rumors about the "conflict of interest" that NO OTHER registrar has ever had to squash -- even though most perform dual consulting and auditing services?
.... just wondering....

No mystery. If PJR wants to have an accreditation audit at a client's premises, it must get permission from that client. Ergo - this is how client "knows."
Suffice to say on the balance of your post:
You don't get a second chance to make a good first impression. Once you make a bad impression (as PJR has on more than one occasion), it is difficult to erase the stain and it will take a lot of rehabilitation to regain what others never lost.
The business of being a registrar depends on reputation. Many customers are leery of doing business with suppliers who have registrars with "questionable" reputations.
Some folks subscribe to the theory a "sinner" has to admit the sin and publicly repent in order to be forgiven.
Not my feeling, I merely report it.
Thanks for the question. Perhaps it's time to revisit the PJR question and determine whether the folks who count
(who buy registrar services or approve suppliers who are registered) consider the reputation of PJR to be "repaired."
