Jan, If only I had some way of transporting gasoline to you I would. But, unfortunately, a full truck full of gas cans, and a four hour drive don't exactly fulfill my visions of a good time. I don't know how many people here remember the song "convoy" from back in the day....but I think I would feel like the trucker carrying a load of dynamite!

Price range in ten mile radius from my home ranges from $3.799 to $4.059, real estate or location alone does not account, since two [brand name] stations on opposite corners have a 15 cent spread in prices.

I have noticed a major insidious creep in automatic car wash prices. Last year, the spread of prices for a simple exterior "no touch" (all spray) car wash ran from $3.50 to $6.50 with "detailing" interior and exterior ranging from $50 to $70. This year, the least expensive drive-through exterior spray car wash (no dryer) is $5.50 with the price on the same machine for adding wax, blow dry, under-carriage spray, etc. up to $12.50. Detailing is ranging from $99 to $129.

Gas was $3.299 in VA. $3.889 here. That is one of the biggest spreads I've seen, usually (taxes) there is only a 10 or 15 cents difference.

It goes to show how much they putting the screws to consumers who are at their mercy,regardless of taxes, location, etc... There are major issues over the price of gas in the USA and this helps prove the point.

If there was such concern by all government (local, state, etc.) taxes would be suspended for a short period and drastic price ranges would be investigated to the full measure of the law.

There is NO reason for gas prices to $1.00/gal different from here to Steelmaiden's location. Excuses maybe but no reason.

I am moving to ST Joe. We have an oil supplier and he was asked by some one outside our county why gas was higher in our county (current 3.51). His response was "because they can afford it". I have never bought gas from his stations or those who buy from him.

Here I was just celebrating that gas got down to $3.68.
It was 4.05 last week here in McHenry County.
