I guess I have been out of the East/Southeast too long already. Maybe it is time to head back to the Carolinas.

Cheapest I can find around here is £1.24/litre for diesel and £1.12/litre for unleaded.

We use to have those in England, many, many years ago. When I was a small kid I remember busses running through town - relatively quietly, and no diesel fumes - on electricity. They were called 'trolley busses' and didn't have rails like a tram, but used a similar overhead wire system. Kinda like a long extension cord............

Don't like to admit it, but I remember the trolley buses too!
I paid £1.33 a litre on Monday for diesel, nearly £70 to fill the car. It's beyond a joke....

I currently work in saudi arabia where
1 lt. octane 91 is for 0.16USD
1 lt. octane 95 is for 0.2 USD

I'm originally from Egypt where gas costs:
1 lt. octane 90 is for 0.4 USD
1 lt. octane 92 is for 0.56 USD

actually bottled water costs more than fuel down here at around 0.3 USD/lt.

It's not a shortage like in the past.....

So what is it? Greedy bastards perhaps? Or do they have us by the throat and are going to extort our money...
