Howdy folks,
Relatively new to the forum but have some pretty good experience (several years in Automotive (PPAP)) and Aerospace) with PFMEA's - just not a good memory. Explanation: I've been out of an engineering profession for a couple years and am now back in medical industry.
For a PFMEA, on a machined component, I typically did a PF, then the PFMEA and a control plan. For the PFMEA, I listed the same steps (incoming to shipping) as in the PF and then listed machined features (mostly CTQ's or key/critical charateristics), process requirements (HT, cleaning, coating..)movements..etc as potential failure modes. These might be process or product requirements. I considered this a process FMEA and not a part FMEA - as I have seen referenced here on this site. It involved more than just machined part features.
This information, based on the RPN's, were then transferred to the Control Plan, but I can also remember listing all potential failure modes on the control plan.
I've done some searching here and found an example or two of a PFMEA of this type, but would like to get my hands on a complete sample set (PF,PFMEA,CP) on a machined product process.
Since my memory is faded a touch and I'm a bit rusty, I'd welcome any feedback, comments or suggestions. My last experience was with QS9000 and the PPAP process in 03'
It would really be nice to see some more good samples though!
Thanks,
