Whether or not there is automated inspection has no direct bearing on PFMEA detection ratings. The same scale should be used whether inspection is by human or machines, because the idea is to determine the likelihood that defects will escape detection (or be detected, if you're more of a glass-half-full type ).
My point was that automated inspection might be more likely to detect defects than human inspection, but the likelhood of detection should be rated using the same scale.
Added in edit: Just to clarify, if you use different scales for automated and human inspection, you have no valid way to compare the two.
