PFMEA English language question

#1
Hi all,

I work in a fastener cold forming company in Japan and I am currently working on a major revision of English translations of PFMEAs.
There is just this tiny detail where I am stuck with,
which is the machine's "feeder" (where an unprocessed product is fed into machine)
and the machine's "ejector" (where processed product from the same machine comes out and drops into a container)

Obviously, there are different types of machines for each process (header, thread roller, continuous heat treatment, batch heat treatment, packing machine, sorting machine etc...) I just want to use the same words combination for every machine.

Would feeder/ejector combo be fine for all machines? Or would there be any other better wordings? such as "inlet/outlet" "input/output" etc...

For example :-

Potential failure mode = Mix-up of different product
Potential effect of failure = Assembly failure at customer's process
Potential mechanism of failure = Different product left in machine's feeder/ejector
Current prevention process = Visual inspection of machine's feeder/ejector after each lot
Current detection process = 100% visual inspection at packing

Thanks in advance!!

Good day @Alex Lee ;
I used to work for Sato Rashi (Japanese cold heading fastener company).

Yes, the terms you are using are fine, however, "feeder" and "ejector" generally refer to an actual device (which, as you mentioned, is not always the same on different machines/processes).

I would recommend the more generic "inlet/outlet" that you mentioned. These are talking about "areas" and not about "devices".

Hope this helps.

Be well.

Good morning John!

Nice to meet you.
Wow! Sato Rashi! they do seem to make some amazing nuts as well.
Our company headquarters is also in Saitama, which is not too far away from Sato Rashi's main factory.

Thank you very much for your recommendation as well.
As you have mentioned, "inlet/outlet" seems to cover a much broader area.
I will put them into consideration.
