FMEA-4 Page105：To Reduce Severity (S) Ranking: Only a design or process revision can bring about a reduction in the severity ranking.

Can manufacturing process design changes reduce the severity ?

Manufacturing process design change can change the severity of a process function but it cannot change the severity of a product design function...

A process design change may reduce the Occurrence rating, but not the Severity rating for a product failure mode.
