We are proud of the service men and women who contributed in the defense of the Islands.

Native of Sarnia!!

QUOTE "Ugh...can't dispute the Sarnia reference. Know people there and I swear that "Chemical Valley" is just about one of the nastiest places to go."

As a Sarnia native, born and raised there, I have to say I am offended by those comments. In fact, it got me so upset that I clenched the fists on all three of my arms!!! Actually, Sarnia isn't as bad as people think. The stigma of Chemical Valley gets a little overplayed (although they have had some water quality issues recently).

Seriously though, places I like. Lake Louise, Alberta is probably the best place in Canada I've been. The view of the lake in the winter is breathtaking.

I had a business trip to Winchester, Virginia once, and it was one of the nicest areas I've ever seen, beautiful old homes, lots of trees, very friendly people.

I would move, however, to Edinburugh, Scotland in a heartbeat. I was there on a rugby tour a few years back and had the time of my life. Ahhh, the Royal Mile........

Recently?!?! Tell that to the 3-eyed fish I saw in the river by bridge! :D Okay, so it wasn't that horrible...let's just say, though, it's not on my top 10 list of places to go back to.

I once had a job offer from a company that said I could choose my location to live...Sarnia or Red Deer. As if I needed to think about that! :D

I haven't traveled much, but loved San Diego. If I could afford it, I'd plan on retiring there.
By the way, Pittsburgh has made great strides and is actually a very neat city now.
I live in rural PA and it is beautiful, but the boredom and lack of "shopping" are killers for me! :biglaugh:

Hey, for a little hometown Scottish atmosphere you should try Scots Corner pub in your town...

Guinness anyone?

I have spent many an evening at the Scots Corner, lad. Great place, used to be a reasonable crawl home (until I moved away from downtown).

These don't correspond with your postings in the service do they???
Let's just say, you won't find any travel agent trying to sell you a vacation in Diego Garcia!
Was never in Subic Bay, but heard the same complaint from others. Hawaii was okay, but I'd never go back on a vacation. I absolutely fell in love with Scotland and the Greek Isles. I loved the culture, the views and the people.
I hope to return to Scotland later this year and have planned another trip to the islands in '06. I still want to see Egypt.

Places I have to visit before I die (and preferably much sooner than that!): [*]Australia: Greg - my brother and his wife just got back from down under - they were there for three weeks. Did the outback, did Sydney...can't remember the itinerary, and haven't been home to see the pics yet. But it's a must-do for me. Maybe you can be my tour guide!
Rachel,

You and your Beau are most welcome to drop on by. My wife and kids would love the company and we have a self contained 'Granny Flat' (Australian Slang for an apartment that is built onto your house to house the Mother in law) :( We are at the southern tip of the Great Barrier Reef and a great jumping off point to all of the islands and Australian Bush (outback). The photos show Great Keppel Island, Carnarvon Gorge and the Bullrides (every Friday night) we have in the local Pub. It is an indoor stadium attached to the back of the pub and it is all done out in a 'Western Theme' - Cowboys (Ringers/Stockman) and Cowgirls (Jillaroos). We are the ultimate in Surf and Turf holidays.
